Jim Jones Says Max B Could Have Been as Big as Drake Right Now

In a new interview with Elliott Wilson and B. Dot, Jim Jones is asked about Max B, the guy who once worked under Jim before leaving under bad terms and starting his own movement. Max signed a recording contract in 2005 and and songwriting contract in 2007, but things were already souring by the time he signed the second one. Three years later, a judge ruled he'd fulfilled his obligations for Jones and allowed him to release his official debut album Vigilanta Season on Amalgam Digital.

When Jim's first asked the question he says he doesn't really want to talk about it, respectfully saying he doesn't want to kick a man while he's down (because he and Max never resolved their beef). But as he goes on, he admits that a lot of artists today have taken elements of Max's style from years ago. He even goes so far as to say that Max "had a chance to be as big as Drake right now."

"A lot of these artists right now that are singing and being very melodic, a lot of that can from [Max B's] whole catalog. Wiz Khalifa will tell you right now that he studied [Max's] whole music word for word, took a lot of his wave and put it in songs," continues Jim.

He also says he put "a lot of money" in Max's pocket and even bailed him out. Watch the whole clip above.
