Kodak Black recently did a quick interview with DJ Self for Power 105, and during their quick conversation Kodak reveals that he's dropping his next mixtape on his birthday (June 11) and his album on Christmas.

Kodak drops a project around Christmas every year so that's no surprise, but the fact that it's his album is a new development. A major record label deal is in the works for Kodak, though an official announcement hasn't been made yet.

The 18-year-old is one of the biggest new artists in the game right now, despite hitting a couple roadblocks. Just the other week he was locked up for weapon possession but soon freed.

Hailing from the Golden Acres projects of Pompano Beach, Fla., Kodak's best known for older singles like "No Flockin" and "SKRT" as well as other tracks like "Skrilla" and "Like Dat." He got some nice exposure when Drake danced to "SKRT" on Instagram, but Kodak's clearly tired of getting asked about it.

He also recently sat down for a meandering interview with Taxstone that covers going to prom, the drug flakka, lil' Kodak's alleged past charges and more. Hear that below.

XXL spoke with the stick-up kid earlier this year about his past, present and future. When his mother saw the feature in the magazine, she broke down crying.

Despite coming out last December, Institution is still one of the strongest projects hip-hop has seen as of recent. It might take a minute to grow on you, but a ton of those records are better than a lot of stuff coming out today. If you aren't already familiar with Kodak Black, it's about time you stop sleeping.
