Common is ready to drop some new music. The Chicago rapper went on Instagram to update fans on his current status while explaining his appreciation for the fans who came out for his recently wrapped tour of Australia and New Zealand. Common said that he's ready to return home and get back to work on his new album. He gave listeners a little preview too with a brief rhyme.

"Peace to everybody down under wondering what's going next/My texts is like that of Malcolm X/Or Marcus Garvery/ Bob Marley, find the party/Whatever you wantis god body," Common rapped.

Common explained that he was "geeked up about the new project" before closing out his video message. Word of Common working on a new release first came up in April when he was seen in the studio with producer Karriem Riggins. The two previously worked together on the 2002 album Electric Circus and the 2007 LP Finding Forever.

The Chicago rapper has not released a new album since 2014 when he dropped Nobody's Smiling. Common's latest music contribution came when he teamed up with former rival Ice Cube on the Barbershop 3 soundtrack single "Real Friends."

While Common may have finished his tour of Australia and New Zealand, he still has some more shows on the way. The "I Used to Love H.E.R." rapper is part of the jam-packed lineup at the 2016 Soundset Festival later this month. After that, Common will head down to New Orleans for a performance at the Essence Festival on July 2.
