7 Artists Who Have Recently Taken Shots at Drake

Houston’s own Sauce Twinz released their first Drake diss last September titled “Wack to Wack.” The song was delivered over Drake’s own “Back to Back” instrumental. They take aim at the 6 Man for a myriad of topics: being peed on, soliciting prostitutes, stealing sounds and aesthetics from other cities, drawing penises on paper in elementary school, acting, acting badly, not recognizing lean and probably reading for a part on Supernatural.

They followed that up with “Winning,” a much more subtle banger featuring Meek Mill (who also hates Drizzy).

The beef stems from Drake’s conduct in Houston, before, leading up to and during the Appreciation Week he throws annually for the city. Though he was once expected to collaborate with the group, they now allege that Drake was terrified when they ran up on him in a restaurant.

In 2010, a rumor spread that Drake and Tory Lanez were related because of a YouTube video from earlier that year titled “Drake's Lil Brother Tory Lanez Freestyle in the Room.” Tory killed the rumor and issued a $10,000 challenge to Drizzy.

Fast forward a few years later to last August, Tory visits Sway in the Morning and drops a freestyle during the show. During the freestyle, he takes a jab at Drake, referencing a notable moment from 2009, in which the "Hotline Bling" rapper was caught reading lyrics off his BlackBerry while he "freestyled."

In October of the same year, Tory tweeted that “the 6,” a nickname for Toronto that Drake popularized, was “not cool." He later delated the tweet.

Drake ended his silence this past January and dropped “Summer Sixteen,” rapping, “All you boys in the new Toronto want to be me a little/All your exes know I like my O’s with a V in the middle/You would love it if I went away or didn’t say nothing else/How am I keeping it real by keeping this sh-t to myself?/You was never gang, gang, gang, gang, you was never one of us/Had us fooled for a minute there, now we done all grown up/But I’m better off anyway, y’all never gon’ finish Drake.”

Tory has stated numerous times that he has no beef with Drake and is even a fan, however, a recent interview was released featuring the crooner saying Drizzy feels intimidated by him.

Rick Ross went to the aid of Meek Mill by dropping "Color Money" and sending jabs at Drake (and Birdman). “Color Money” represents the first time Ross backed his Maybach Music Group artist on wax. The bawse takes aim at Drake’s “world tour or your girl’s tour” line from the “Back to Back” diss.

“Color money got your bitch out on a world tour/My lil’ homie made a million on his girl’s tour/We back to back and down to wack a n--- unborn/Miami n---- got 'em changin’ all they gun laws/So run Forrest, got some shooters and they down, too/I got more money then that n---- that you signed to,” Ross raps.

Soon after, Young Renzel was on Power 105’s The Breakfast Club show and discussed the lyrics that appeared to be aimed at Drake and presumably Lil Wayne and Birdman. “You know I just released ‘Color Money’ and it is what it is,” he said. “It’s a lot of different people that’s going to interpreted a lot of different ways, it is what it is.”

In 2014, Tyga detailed his issues with his label, Nicki Minaj and Drake. "I don’t like Drake as a person," he said. "He’s just fake to me. I like his music; you know what I’m saying? I think his music is good, but we’re all different people. We were forced together and it was kinda’ like we were forcing relationships together."

Drake threw not-so subliminal shots at Tyga on "6 PM in New York," the last song off the Toronto native's surprise full-length project, If You're Reading This It's Too Late.

Fast forward to January of 2016, Tyga revealed that he and Drake are on good terms after Kanye mediated a sitdown between the two Cash Money artists.

“He put us in a room together when he was doing his fashion show…” Tyga told Los Angeles’s Real 92.3. “We gave each other a hug and just chopped it up.”

During the Drake and Meek Mill beef last year, which also involved Quentin Miller, Funkmaster Flex decided to add his personal feelings to the mix. In November, Flex dissed Drizzy while spinning at Jadakiss’ Top 5 Dead or Alive album release event in Long Island, N.Y. The Hot 97 radio personality took a moment of his time to take a not so subtle jab at Aubrey. While playing Meek Mill’s song "Dreams and Nightmares," Flex yells, “F-ck that Canadian n----.”

Ice-T and Coco visited SiriusXM’s studios and appeared on Sway in the Morning last year and the conversation included Drake. After being brought up to speed, Sway played Ice Drake's Meek Mill diss track “Back to Back.” Ice-T's response? “That’s not a battle rap," he said. "A battle rap is like when Nas Ether’d Jay, you go in right at the first word you start dissing a n----, you let a n---- know right out the gate. It’s not out the side of your mouth, it’s not subliminal… Did he say Meek Mill’s name? Get the f-ck out of here, that’s not a battle rap, he dissed a n----. That’s how women do it.”

Ice also gave a prediction on Meek’s response saying, “I think Meek Mill’s style is much more aggressive, he’s always amped on his records. This might have been what Meek wanted. Give him a little bit, have him come at me and come back at him. I bet if Meek Mill disses him, his first word will be Drake.”

Even from jail, Miami rapper XXXTentacion was taking shots at Drake, accusing the Toronto rapper of stealing his flow from the song "Look At Me." Once he got out, X had plenty to say about 6ix God.


“He is not a man. I think he’s a bitch, that’s a bitch move,” said X during his first post-jail interview on Miami’s 103.5 The Beat. “Especially when I was in jail facing life, you know what I’m saying? If Drake would’ve came to my bond hearing, you know what I’m saying, that would’ve made my fucking day. If he had showed that he’s a hospitable person and that he’s really in this shit for the culture, rather than being a … taking my shit, running off with it and then putting it on his album, then he would’ve gotten my kudos, gotten my respect. I would’ve let him hop on the remix and take 100 percent royalty rate. I would’ve done it.”
