Soaring producer Metro Boomin covers the latest issue of The Fader, and in the magazine's feature story author Amos Barshad reveals a number of illuminating details, among them that Nelly's Country Grammar inspired a young Metro to pursue music and that the producer has put in work on Drake's upcoming album Views From the 6.

Metro and Drake last collaborated on the September 2015 release What a Time to Be Alive, for which Metro Boomin is listed as Executive Producer and had a hand in producing all but four of the project's 11 tracks. In the story, Barshad notes of Metro that "in the past months, he’s been in Miami, in LA, and in Toronto working on Drake’s meticulously workshopped Views From the 6."

The story, which will hit newsstands on May 10, also captures a phone conversation had between Metro and Kanye West in which West suggests the two should form a production group together. Additionally, it credits OJ da Juiceman for helping, in part, to come up with the producer's stage name.

More revealing however, is a piece in which Metro recognizes the difficulty in working with both Future and Young Thug, who have an unspoken level of competition that borders on beef. “Yeah, it’s some crazy shit,” he says. “You can’t have either one of them feel like you fucking with the other one more than them. Either one of them would be offended. You gotta remain neutral as much as possible. It’s no bias. Atlanta, man—everybody’s a male, there’s a lot of ego. Somebody gotta be number one. Neither one of them are the type to settle for number two. I feel like they both motivate each other, and it’s good for the culture and the music—just as long as it stay at that.” He later adds, “Future’s like an older brother to me, and Thug’s more like a brother my age.”
