Kodak Black Released From Jail Following Arrest for Weapons Possession

Kodak Black is a free man, for now. The South Florida rapper is out on bail, fresh out of jail after he was arrested on gun and weed charges on Thursday (April 21) in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

Black announced his release via Instagram Friday night (April 22), posting a picture of himself at the airport. "From The Cell, To The Airport! "Baby Cause Im A Thug" Birmingham Tonight #Flies," he captioned the photo.

Two days ago, video surfaced of the Project Baby in handcuffs, lying on the street. It was later reported by the Sun Sentinel what police say went down. According to authorities, Black, born Dieuson Octave, pulled up on a block known for drug sales and exchanged money for a "large bag with a green leafy substance" with another individual.

When officers rolled up, Black and his passenger, Wisdom Williams, attempted to elude them in their vehicle. After a short chase, police say they witnessed the rapper get out of the car and throw a gun in a dumpster. He and Williams were detained. Officers found a loaded Glock 23 .40 caliber pistol and a magazine in the dumpster. They also located 2.5 grams of marijuana in the rapper's car.

He was charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of cannabis, fleeing and eluding police at a high speed and disobeying/avoiding traffic devices.

The "SKRT" rhymer is no stranger to the system. Back in 2012, he was charged with attempted robbery with a weapon. He was only 14 years old.

Black performed in Birmingham as a part of his Going Up Top tour.
