Did Fetty Wap’s Chain Get Snatched?

Chain snatching in hip-hop is a tradition that goes back as far as the days when Kool Herc was spinning in the community room of 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx in the 1970s. Now Fetty Wap might be the latest victim to have his chain stolen.

Instagram user Louie tha G posted a photo of a diamond-encrusted RGF Island chain with the caption, "We just want $10k or summin." He also tagged Fetty's Instagram username in the post to make sure the rapper saw his chain was in his hands.

The man then clarifies that he did not take the jewelry, but wanted to return the expensive piece to its rightful owner. "We ain't take it!" he said. "We just got it back and we tryna give it back! Come scream at me Fetty Wap."

Other members of the crew have been on Instagram wearing the chain, including user smash280. "RGF Chain. We got y'all shit back," he wrote in the caption. "Somebody tag Fetty or one of them."

This morning, Fetty posted a picture of himself with PnB Rock on Instagram and is seen wearing a gold chain, but it is unclear if it is the necklace in question.

XXL has reached out to the New Jersey rapper's camp to see if the chain snatching rumors are true.

The "Trap Queen" rapper has been actively promoting peace in the streets with his "Bikes up, guns down" movement. Fetty, who grew up in a rough Paterson, N.J. neighborhood, is encouraging the youth to put down guns in favor of riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers. Despite having a scary motorcycle accident that left him with a broken leg, the 300 Entertainment signee is back behind the handlebars and using his hobby to try and keep the peace.
