Chance The Rapper rocking a Chicago White Sox cap is essentially part of his signature look, so you know the Windy City rapper is a fan. Later this week, he will be handling a special duty for the team. The Chicago Sun Times reports that Chance The Rapper will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the Chicago White Sox's home opener this Friday (April 8) against the Oakland Athletics.

This is not the first time that Chance The Rapper will throw out the first pitch for his hometown team as the Chicago native previously did so in 2014. This will be a first though as he gets the high honor of participating in the team's opening ceremonies. Goo Goo Dolls singer John Rzeznik is also scheduled to participate in the festivities as he will perform the national anthem.

Chance The Rapper's continues to land some major recognition despite his status as an independent artist. It is truly impressive to watch the young MC's rise as he makes a name for himself outside of the major label landscape. What's more impressive is his ability to build momentum while not releasing a new solo project. Chance's last solo work was the 2013 mixtape Acid Rap. Since then, anticipation has only risen for what the rapper's next move will be.

The Chicago native has been keeping busy of late with collaborations. His show stealing performance on Kanye West's "Ultralight Beam" is one of the many records that have kept Chance The Rapper's name on fans' minds.
