Anderson Paak Brings Out Kendrick Lamar and Dre at Coachella

Did Anderson .Paak manage to top his surprise of T.I. during his first weekend performance at the 2016 Coachella Festival? The talented singer and his band, The Free Nationals, were back at the Mojave stage for day three for Coachella's second weekend. Paak pulled out the big guns this time as he stunned the audience with appearances by Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre.

Dr. Dre's involvement made plenty of sense as he was part of N.W.A reunion Ice Cube staged during his respective performance at Coachella. With Anderson .Paak signed to Aftermath, it's only right that Dre made his way over to his protégé's gig. Dr. Dre rocked the crowd with renditions of "California Love," "The Next Episode" and "Still D.R.E." As for Kendrick Lamar, the Compton MC excited fans by performing his hit "Backseat Freestyle" during Paak's set.

Kendrick Lamar's involvement is sure to tease fans over the possibility of a future collaboration with Anderson .Paak. The Malibu singer said that he and Kendrick have become good friends over the last year.

"I talk to Kendrick frequently, we text a lot," Anderson .Paak told Complex. "We met right after Compton came out, just sharing stories and different things from working with Dre. He’s really cool and I met the whole camp—I work with Schoolboy Q a lot."

While he would not confirm anything, Anderson .Paak hinted at there being a strong possibility of him and Kendrick Lamar working together.

"After my album Malibu came out, Kendrick called me up and he was just like, ‘Thank you bro, for giving me something to listen to,'" .Paak said. "It felt really good to get that respect from him because he’s one of my favorites. So, you never know, I think there’s light."
