Everybody knew Flatbush Zombies had a loyal fanbase, but 24,000 pure album sales is pretty impressive for their debut album 3001: A Laced Odyssey

The trio of Meechy Darko, Zombie Juice and Erick Arc Elliott released their official debut album last Friday (March 11) to much hysteria, along with videos like "This Is It" off the 12-track album. It's a moody song with some beautiful piano to accompany the hard drums. They also released the visual for "Bounce" back in February.

Including streams, Billboard reports the Zombies sold 28k, but even at 24 it's an impressive number. They don't have any ostensible record deal, so even though they're still 10k behind 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne's ColleGrove for the week, they're still putting up great numbers out the gate.

The group's producer Erick Arc Elliott tour recently visted Human Head Records in Brooklyn to find a couple random joints to sample. He takes a tour around the store shopping for vintage records from Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and other classics we’ve heard sampled on various hip-hop tracks. He copped three vinyls including, Rest In Peace Michael Jackson, Amnesty’s Free Your Mind, and a Gaye and Ross mash-up.

Soon he's lifting the main piano keys from Superfine's “I Am Love” and mixing them with the Amnesty joint and a Marvin & Diana track, all together for one hot soulful beat. You can see him do it below.

Be on the lookout for what we've got with the Flatbush trio too. We spent some time with them recently and you'll be able to see the result really soon, so keep it locked at XXL's YouTube page to be the first to see the footage.
