LL Cool J is a poster boy for the Golden Era of hip-hop, so it might come as a surprise to some that he's been listening to Southern rapper Peewee Longway a lot lately.

Before hosting the Grammys on Monday night (Feb. 15), LL joined the Kidd Kraddick morning show to talk about all the incredible guests on the awards show and what to expect from the biggest night in music.

When asked who his favorite rapper of all time is, LL couldn't choose. "I really don't have a favorite rapper, and let me tell you why," he said. "Because I have so many rappers that I'm a fan of for so many different reasons. Like...there's an era of hip-hop that not many people discuss, which is Grandmaster Flash, Treacherous Three, Crash Crew, Afrika Bambaataa, Zulu Nation. That whole era nobody really talks about. G.L.O.B.E. from Soulsonic Force was unbelievable. When you move forward I love Run-DMC for different reasons, I love Big Daddy Kane for different reasons. I can go in eras."

Then he dropped the bombshell: "Right now I even like Peewee Longway."

Peewee Longway is one of the most talented yet slept on rappers from Atlanta in recent time. At some point last year Longway tweeted that he was quitting rap, but just a few weeks ago the MPA boss dropped his Mr. Blue Benjamin album, the best project he's released since his 2013 Running Around The Lobby tape.

In a way it's not that crazy to learn LL fucks with Peewee, as the latter often packs a lot of words into his verses. But hardcore hip-hop purists might pop a vein when they hear LL giving props to a trap rapper.
