LeBron James Wants Kendrick Lamar to Drop Those “Untitled” Songs

While the world continues to sit with Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly, the rapper has chosen to perform unreleased music during recent late night spots, wowing audiences with poignant and inspired sets such as the one delivered on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon just last month. Whether the songs represent Butterfly leftovers or the ingredients of Lamar's next project seem unimportant details as fans clamor for recorded versions of the tracks.

Among those fans is two-time NBA Champion and league phenom LeBron James, who took to Twitter on Tuesday evening (Feb. 23) to ask both Kendrick and TDE CEO Anthony Tiffith when those tracks are being released. "Yo @dangerookipawaa after that @kendricklamar Grammy performance , you have to release those untitled tracks asap!!! What's up? Talk to me," he wrote. In less than an hour's time, Tiffith responded, writing, "Dam my nigga u on my head 2... The fans been killing me. Y'all just backed me in a corner..Give me a few days 2 think."

Kendrick himself revealed that he has a "chamber" of unreleased music that he uses solely for live performances. Whether we'll ever get those songs remains to be seen, as sample clearances are holding many of them up.

The Cleveland Cavaliers had the night off Tuesday, which would explain why LeBron was able to join the chorus of those requesting audio files of the untitled tracks. Kendrick performed "The Blacker the Berry" and "Alright" at the Grammy's last week, a performance that has drawn some criticism for its visual similarities to a Dice Raw-penned play. Beyond that though, the two-song set earned praise for its provocative imagery and powerful message. Check out both LeBron and Tiffith's tweets below.
