"What you want / How you take / Where's your life / When you're done," HXLT belts on his latest offering, "Together," featuring Kathleen Hanna.

HXLT, better known as Hollywood Holt, made headlines last year when he was handpicked by Kanye West to be a part of his G.O.O.D. Music roster despite being a relative unknown to most hip-hop fans. And like former Yeezy signee Kid Cudi and Mr. Hudson, HXLT isn't prone to being boxed in to the beats and rhymes aesthetic, hence the rockish sound of this cut.

"I came up with the guitar melody first," Holt told NPR, where the track was premiered. "The melody made me feel like I needed to tell people how I felt. How they should fight to live the life they want to live. How if everyone comes together we can make anything happen."

"Together" is more frat party than nightclub, but gives listeners a taste of what HXLT is all about. "Don't surrender your life, don't surrender your life," he delivers and drives home his belief that with unity we can all learn and benefit from one another.

Holt’s signing may seem like a case of overnight success to many, but he has been making waves in the local Chicago scene for years. Piquing the interest of Kanye West due to his loud, eclectic style as well as his vicious bars and undeniable presence, Yeezy decided to enlist the fellow Chicagoan into his G.O.O.D. Music fold as a secret weapon that he seems prepared to unleash on the music world.

Influenced by traditional rap to punk rock and everything in between, Hollywood Holt’s alliance with one of the biggest artists in all of music bodes well for him. Now his work can be showcased on the biggest of stages the world has to offer.
