Drake Joins Toronto Raptors Broadcast to Talk NBA All-Star Weekend

Drake has impacted basketball games from the stands and sidelines. The rapper decided to take things a step further by joining the Toronto Raptors telecast on Saturday (Jan. 30) to speak on the team's recent success and their role as host for the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend.

While Drake keeps the talk strictly basketball, he does reference "Summer Sixteen" and speaks in terms that could be perceived as relating to his ongoing beef with Meek Mill.

"It’s all good out here," he said. "A lot of wins out here." When asked what he's been up to, the rapper said, "Just enjoying the city, happy to be back home. Obviously working on the album. I dropped a new song tonight so just trying to get the people excited. Excited for All Star Weekend."

Drake and the Raptors' commentators spoke on the number of parties he's planning on hosting for the weekend - "I got like a record number" - and how "Summer Sixteen" may have inspired the Raptors' recent play - "I feel like they heard it already. Energies are at an all time high."

Drake went on to further praise the Raptors, who have two players selected to the Eastern Conference All Star team, guards Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozen. As for the All Star festivities and Toronto's opportunity to host, he said, "It’s beyond great, it’s surreal. I look around this building, I just can’t believe this building’s going to turn into the All Star game. First time in another country. Amazing opportunity for us. It’s really just abut the positive energy. The city deserves it. We have the greatest fans. Simultaneously to be on a winning streak and get All Star I think somebody’s watching over us."

The Raptors are currently on an 11 game winning streak and face the Denver Nuggets tonight (Feb. 1). The NBA All Star Weekend kicks off on Friday Feb. 12, with the All Star Celebrity Game, for which Drake is coaching Team Canada opposite Kevin Hart.
