Rihanna Helps Drake Earn His Second No. 1 Song on Billboard Hot 100

Drake and Rihanna's "Work" video took the web by storm today (Feb. 22) and now the song is topping the charts. "Work" jumped to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and helped Drizzy score the second No. 1 hit of his career, both of which have been collaborations with Rihanna. On Nov. 20, 2010, Drake and Rihanna's "What's My Name" charted at No. 1 on the Hot 100.

Drake shouted out his frequent collaborator on Instagram, posting a photo of the two from the "Work" video with the caption, "Two number ones and they are both cause of you...Midas touch Riri. Thank you!!!"

As a solo artist, the Toronto MC has never hit the top of the chart but has come close twice. Both "Best I Ever Had" and "Hotline Bling" peaked at No. 2. While Drake declared that reaching No. 1 with "Hotline Bling" would have been the "biggest achievement of his career to date," he was never able to jump The Weeknd's "The Hills."

Last week, Drake tied The Notorious B.I.G. as a Billboard record holder when his "Summer Sixteen" single debuted at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Drizzy, Biggie and Rihanna are the only artists in the chart's history to have multiple songs debut at No. 1 in its first week.

“Summer Sixteen” debuted Jan. 30 on Apple Music Beats 1’s OVO Sound Radio on Jan. 30 and, according to Billboard, sold 215,000 digital downloads in the week ending Feb. 4. The song was also streamed 2.7 million times during that same time period.

For Rihanna, the chart-topper holds even greater significance. "Work" marks the singer's 14th time at No. 1, putting her ahead of legendary artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder in the record books. She currently sits behind only Mariah Carey (18) and The Beatles (20) for the most No. 1s hits all time. Based on her current trajectory, she could very well pass both acts for the record.
