It's been a minute since The-Dream has dropped any sort of project, with 2013's IV Play being the last album or mixtape the Atlanta singer/songwriter released. Though he's all over Pusha T's latest, The-Dream released a cryptic video on Wednesday (Jan. 6) hinting at an upcoming work titled "Genesis." Update (Jan. 8, 4:15 p.m.): Genesis was released on Tidal. If you're a Tidal subscriber, you can watch here.

Not too much happens in the 15 second clip, a man covered in plaster from head to shoulders pushing open a pair of double doors. Similarly, The-Dream didn't offer much in the way of context, saying only that project will be released on Friday Jan. 8 through the streaming service Tidal. When a Twitter user asked if "Genesis" was an album, the singer remained vague, writing in response that "it's Everything."

Back in July of 2015, it was reported that The-Dream had split with label Capitol Records and that his album Crown Jewel would be delayed because of it. The singer had taken to Instagram to share the news, saying that the album was done on April 21st but complications with the label kept it from release. He wrote, "Basically even tho I have the record I could not put it up either. Doesn’t change the fact that I have a lot of music and would love for it to be out but Things happen when you are fighting for what’s right, we all will get over."

It is curious then, to see how "Genesis" fits into The-Dream's plan for new music but luckily the wait won't be long. Check back tomorrow to see what The-Dream's been up to.
