According to a report from the Associated Press, Knight fired his former attorney Thomas Mesereau and hired Stephen Schwartz during a closed session earlier today (Jan. 21). Mesereau is known for winning an acquittal for Michael Jackson on child molestation charges. Mesereau has not commented on the firing as of press time.

TMZ is reporting that Suge and Mesereau had a heated disagreement over confidential information. A source told the outlet that Knight believes the information was given to the authorities and he "became enraged."

On Jan. 6, Mesereau argued that Knight's extended stay in prison while waiting for trial has been unfair and the conditions in which he has had to live are unjust. The lawyer told TheWrap that his former client "should be at home and he should have been granted reasonable bail, like everybody else. This case is going forward because of who he is, not because of anything he did wrong."

The hip-hop mogul has been in prison since Jan. 6, 2015 and has not had his $10.5 million bail posted. He has pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder charges stemming from a Jan. 2015 incident where he allegedly ran over two men, killing one, outside of a hamburger restaurant near the set of Straight Outta Compton. His trial is set to begin on Feb. 26.
