Rising Bay Area rapper Nef the Pharaoh teams up with Cardo for his Neffy Got Wings EP. With features from Deltrice, Mozzy, Philthy Rich, Ty Dolla $ign and Eric Bellinger, Nef comes through with a strong followup to his 2015 standout self-titled EP. Cardo provides plenty of bouncy beats for the 20-year-old upstart to rhyme over as his Bay Area twang and style stirs up memories of Mac Dre's Thizz movement and E-40's legendary slang.

XXL spoke to Nef about being compared to Mac Dre and how he's trying to carve his own place in the hip-hop world. "[My style's been compared to] Mac Dre, but I could never be Mac Dre," he said. "There’s only one Mac Dre. I’m Nef the Pharaoh—when people try to compare me to him, I wanna veer from that. Of course you hear him coming out of me because we come from the same place, we’re both from Vallejo, I listened to him growing up. I’m bringing my own style, and of course I’m going to remind you of the late, great Dre, but I don’t want to be compared to anyone."
