While Chris Brown finds himself in familiar waters in this young new year, facing accusations of punching a woman at a Las Vegas night club on New Years Eve, the singer is taking measures to ensure that his name is cleared and that similar incidents don't continue to plague him. According to TMZ, Brown is planning on filing a defamation suit against Liziane Gutierrez, the woman who claims Brown struck her after she snuck a phone past security and snapped a picture of him. The lawsuit is expected to be filed as early as today.

Beyond the legal action, Brown is also limiting who he parties and associates with, writing on Instagram yesterday, "Keeping my circle small in 2016!... And I'm going to be hella rich after all the lawsuits I file from these crazy individuals who kep lying on my name." TMZ also reports that Brown believes some in his entourage were inviting random girls to come party with them, resulting in such incidents.

Brown's manager also took to Twitter to address the situation, condemning the outlets that covered the initial accusations. "Shame to the networks that gave this story life and this liar her 15 minutes," he wrote. "I don't know what's more despicable the news outlets making this a lead story or the false accusation who wants her name printed as a victim on TMZ for false fame."

TMZ also has video of Gutierrez responding to Brown's initial comments regarding the accusations, saying that she is scared after receiving death threats from Brown's fans. We will continue to update this story as news develops.
