The judge presiding over Meek Mill's probation violation hearing has prevented him from performing anywhere, including his hometown of Philadelphia.

The rapper is in trouble for traveling to Los Angeles last month in order to perform at the American Music Awards. It appears that Meek did not properly inform his parole officer of the trip to L.A. The Maybach Music Group rapper was also accused of providing a false sample for a drug test. Meek allegedly gave a lab technician a cup of cold water instead of urine for his probation-mandated test.

Meek remains on probation for a 2008 conviction on drug and gun possession charges. He violated his probation for the first time in 2012, then served a five-month sentence in prison in 2014 for failing to complete court mandated etiquette classes from that violation.

During today's (Dec. 17) hearing, Meek Mill's defense continued to call character witnesses. Meek's girlfriend Nicki Minaj already testified on his behalf last week, explaining that she would help Meek complete his community service requirements.

"He’s not perfect, but I can’t believe how much he’s changed,” Minaj said.

Music legend Kenny Gamble of the famed Gamble and Huff duo spoke on Meek Mill's behalf at today's hearing.

Gamble said Meek is "the voice of the voiceless and they listen to him. Our arms are wide open to brother Meek."

Show booker Shawn Gee also attested to Meek Mill's character during the hearing.

"Meek speaks to the kids in the hood, but he also speaks to kids in general," Gee said. "He's a humble dude, big-hearted dude."

WHYY Philadelphia reporter Bobby Allyn was on hand for the hearing. Allyn live tweeted the events including Meek Mill's statements on the stand. Sentencing for the Dreams Worth More Than Money creator has been delayed until Feb. 5, 2016.
