King Louie is recovering after being shot in the head in his hometown Chicago. While in the hospital, Louie has been asking fans to pray for his speedy recovery and thanking well wishers for their kind words.

As previously reported, Louie was shot in the Ashburn neighborhood on the Southwest Side of the city. According to reports, he was in a vehicle when someone came up to him and shot him. He was reportedly taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Fears whether the rapper would survive the incident were quelled when his management revealed he was awake and talking.

In the days since the shooting, King L has been active on social media. On Christmas Day, he received a visit Minister Louis Farrakhan. Posting a picture with the Nation of Islam leader, L captioned, "I wanna send thanks to everyone for their prayers & support! A special thank you to The Honorable Minister Farrakhan for the blessings & prayers."

He later posted a solo pic from his hospital bed and wrote, "MERRY XMAS 2 ALL .... ALL I WANT 4 XMAS IS 4 EVERYBODY 2 KEEP ME N THEIR PRAYERS .....IM STAYING STRONG 4 MY FAMILY & THOSE WHO R PRAYING 4 ME .....THANK U ALL."

The rapper's managment has issued an official statement in the matter. “King Louie and his family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this unfortunate time,” his management said in an emailed statement to NBC Chicago. “He wants his fans, friends and family to know that he is alive and recovering and is thankful for the support.”
