From brushing off his shoulders to dusting off his copy of Aquemini, Barack Obama has undoubtedly become the American President most in tune with hip-hop. Back in 2007, as he was gearing up for primary season, his aids said that his iPod featured plenty of Lil Wayne; now that he's heading into his final full year in office, he's going for something a little more staid. Obama recently revealed to People that his favorite song of 2015 was "How Much a Dollar Cost?," the James Fauntleroy- and Ronald Isley-featuring deep cut from Kendrick Lamar's Grammy-nominated To Pimp a Butterfly.

TMZ caught up with Kendrick and he responded to Obama's complement. "That's great man,"  he said. Short and sweet.

The Mark Ronson-Bruno Mars collaboration "Uptown Funk," also up for Grammys, tops Michelle Obama's year-end list; the First Lady also sung the praises of the Elizabeth Alexander memoir The Light of the World and the new Pixar instant classic Inside Out. The President's favorite movie was the Matt Damon-starring space thriller The Martian, and his favorite book was the Lauren Groff-penned Fates and Furies, which serves as a longform analysis of what makes a good marriage tick. The first couple says their favorite TV shows are Black-ish, the Anthony Anderson-starring ABC sitcom, and The Knick, the Steven Soderbergh-directed Cinemax drama about a hospital at the turn of the 20th century. As for Kendrick, he scored a staggering 11 nominations for the 2016 Grammys, including Album of the Year.
