Earlier this week, Gucci Mane made headlines for a post on his Instagram account that both hinted at an imminent release from prison and showed off a newly-svelte physique. Yesterday (Dec. 8), that hype reached a fever pitch when the rapper's team announced through his Twitter that Gucci would release a new mixtape later this month--on Dec. 22, to be exact. That tweet promised East Atlanta Santa 2, a sequel to last year's installment, which was quietly one of the best bodies of work Gucci's engineers and management team put together since he started his bid. Check out the promotional image right here; it doesn't appear to be the cover art, given the 'coming soon' addendum and the absence of the Photoshop wizardry that marked the first East Atlanta Santa.

Though incarcerated, Gucci has started mobilizing his fan base in recent weeks, first with an open letter written in his own hand. Guesses as to his date of release have varied wildly--some expect him home at the very top of next  year, while others warn that it could be mid-2017 before he sees the outside--but the current run of promotion seems to indicate that something good is coming down the pipeline. For the time being, fans are encouraged to write to him at the following address:
