Boosie BadAzz will undergo surgery for kidney cancer today (Dec. 8).  Giving fans an update on his health via Instagram, Boosie posted a photo of him and his daughter and expressed continued gratitude.

"To all my family, fans and supporters I really appreciate the love and concern that's been given to me since I was diagnosed with kidney cancer." BadAzz writes. "Tomorrow I go in for surgery and I need prayers for a great surgery and rehabilitation."

It was confirmed that the 33-year-old Touch Down 2 Cause Hell MC had cancer on Nov. 25 when BadAzz posted an announcement on Instagram, but then promptly deleted the caption for the post. Atlantic Records confirmed that Boosie does have cancer and the hip-hop community has since expressed support for Boosie.

The Baton Rouge MC was locked up for nearly five years in Louisiana State Penitentiary for conspiracy, drug possession and first-degree murder charges. Boosie would eventually beat the murder charge and was release on March 5, 2014, claiming he had enough material for 1,000 new songs.

“When I came home I was strong, man, I was focused,” Boosie said to XXL in an interview that appears in our Spring 2015 issue. “All I did in jail was rap. I had songs in my head; any beat you put on I got a hook for it, no matter what beat it is. I just came home flooded.”

We was there when Boosie held his live-streamed press conference in New Orleans last year and got to speak the hip-hop vet first. Watch that interview here.

UPDATE (Dec. 8, 3:43 p.m.): Boosie took to Instagram that he had successful recovery. Hopefully more good news will follow soon. Peep the post below.
