In some ways, Wiz Khalifa and Ty Dolla $ign represent opposite ends of the same spectrum. The former, the Pittsburgh rapper who went from mixtape darling to bankable hitmaker, has crafted or appeared on some of rap's biggest songs over the past half-decade. On the other hand, our monied friend has had his hand in even more Top 40 cuts, though his appearances are usually as a guest, or simply as a writer. But when the two linked up earlier this year for their Talk About It in the Morning EP, there was less sync deal chasing and more blunted-out riding music. What could have been a tossed-off Soundcloud curiosity was instead a cogent, cohesive project, a fact that is owed largely to the pair's unique chemistry. Is a movie studio banking on that chemistry translating to the big screen?

On Labor Day (Sept. 7), Wiz and Ty dropped what appears to be a teaser for a movie version of Talk About It in the Morning. We at XXL realize you may not have hit play on the clip yet, but we promise you you already know its contents: liquor, women, black lights and classic cars, all in the service of throwing a peculiarly urgent pool party. That doesn't mean it's not watching, of course--the festivities are carried out with the same degree of languid care that the marked the EP. At press time, there are no solid details available about how, where or when the footage might eventually come out, although Gerard Victor has been tapped as director. XXL has reached out to Atlantic for comment.
