Today (Sept. 24), Paul Wall pulled back the curtain on slabgod, his seventh album since breaking onto the national scene during the Houston renaissance of 2005, and his third in three years. It features some of the South's most revered MCs, including Trae Tha Truth, Devin the Dude, Curren$y and Lil Keke, and bigger stars like Snoop Dogg. You can stream the album in its entirety below courtesy of Paul's Soundcloud before its Friday release:

Wall first popped up on MTV and BET near the end of 2004 with his show-stealing verse on "Still Tippin," the single from his fellow Houston MC Mike Jones' star-making debut, Who Is Mike Jones? The song also featured Slim Thug. However, the version that became a hit and ended up on Mike Jones was actually a remix; the original cut was Jones, Thug and Chamillionaire, the rapper who had fallings-out with both Jones and Paul Wall and was replaced by the latter when the vocals moved to a new beat. (Less than a year later, Chamillionaire would become a major commercial star on his own turns, with hit singles like "Turn It Up" and "Ridin," which featured Lil Flip and Krayzie Bone, respectively.)

Wall then became a sort of cult hero for his constant wearing of--and ability to make--grills, landing him a massive song with Nelly. Since then, he's maintained a steady output of reliably woozy music from his hometown.
