The last few months for rising rap star Post Malone have been a roller coaster ride. Over the summer, one of the handful of songs the Texas native had under his belt turned into a certified underground hit when "White Iverson" sauced its way into rap fans' hearts. Last month, the neophyte MC inked a recording deal with Republic Records and was seemingly on cloud nine. Then last week KanyeToThe unearthed a deleted Vine that shows Malone using the N-word, and things have momentarily taken a sharp turn downward for the "Too Young" rapper.

With no way he could sit idle without addressing the matter, Post recently appeared on DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz Radio, where he opened up about the controversial clip and offered an apology. "It's an old video, you know? [But] it's unacceptable and I made a mistake," he told Drama. "I just wanna apologize. I guess that's really it. I can't really say nothing. It was wrong of me."

White people using the N-word as a term of endearment has been a hot topic in hip-hop. Earlier this year, Tom Hanks' wannabe rapper son was called out for recklessly tossing around the N-Word on Instagram. Last year, video surfaced of Justin Bieber using a harsher variation of the word but he was seemingly given a pass by everyone in the industry, including Common. California rapper V-Nasty basically demanded her right to use the word, during her 15 seconds of fame back in 2011.

If history is any indicator, time will heal all wounds and people will forgive but never forget. That is, if Post keeps putting out music that people care about. If not, he could go the way of the Kreayshawn.
