Drake and Future’s ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ Is Projected to Sell 500,000 In First Week

Drake and Future's What A Time To Be Alive is the talk of the rap world and now the album is poised to make them some serious money. Though it hasn't been available for 24 hours, early projections say that the project is on pace to sell 500,000 copies in its first week. According to Hits Daily Double, industry insiders believe that the project could move as many as half-a-million units in the first week. Apple holds the rights to the project for the first week but it will be available on Spotify and other streaming entities at some point.

The report also states that the project finally came to fruition after a deal between Cash Money and Epic Records was struck. L.A. Reid, who is the label head at Epic, reportedly insisted that What A Time To Be Alive be released as a sellable album instead of a free mixtape.

Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late was released in a similar fashion back in February of this year. Released on a project, the surprise drop sold over 500,000 in its first week and became the first project of 2015 to go platinum. Future's Dirty Sprite 2 came in at No. 1 in July and currently sits at #10 on the iTunes chart. Drake's "Hotline Bling" is the No. 1 single on the iTunes charts and does not have a project home.
