The runaway success of Straight Outta Compton is putting wheels in motion for more hip-hop biopics to get made. A report from The Hollywood Reporter says that the Agency for the Performing Arts is shopping a package to studios based on the book and documentary, Welcome To Death Row. S. Leigh Savidge, who received a co-executive producer credit on Straight Outta Compton, wrote and produced both the Death Row book and documentary and is working on getting the notorious record label's story turned into a full-length feature film.

One of the biggest holdups in securing a deal is the fact that there are no music rights attached to Welcome To Death Row at the moment. BSavidge ran into this same problem when he began writing the N.W.A biopic in 2002 but was able secure the group's music rights after he and business partner Alan Wenkus convicted Eazy-E's widow and rights holder Tomica Woods-Wright to co-sign the film and situate the project with New Line Cinema.

Rumors of a sequel to Straight Outta Compton revolving around the rises of Death Row artists Snoop Dogg, Warren G, Tha Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg and others began to circulate once Compton topped the box office. Whispers that it would be called Dogg Pound 4 Life and feature Dr. Dre's son, Curtis Young, were intriguing and now that Savidge is reportedly shopping Welcome to Death Row, the rumors appear to have legs.
