With Straight Outta Compton debuting in theaters nationwide today (Aug 14), F. Gary Gray, Ice Cube and the cast of the N.W.A biopic joined DJ Whoo Kid on WhoolyWood Shuffle. Ice Cube and F. Gary Gray make it clear to Whoo Kid that they were ready to walk if Universal Pictures did not give them creative control.

"We was like, it's better not to do it, than to do it f--ked up or do it wrong," said Ice Cube. "We were always, if they trip, we're looking for the exit. If they don't they don't do it how we need it done, we're looking for the exit. They want to make some Hollywood bullsh-t, we're looking for the exit. So once Gary decided to do the movie and he turned down Captain America to do this movie...he came through and said, 'Yo we got to make a classic or we don't touch it' and from there we recruited everybody from them on." Gray adds, "remember all those meetings and they used to make some crazy suggestions, we look at each other and say, get the f--k out of here with that bullsh-t."

The interview is really interesting as the cast members discuss performing N.W.A songs in front of Dr. Dre, Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella, getting the resources for the film and a lot more. Watch the interview above.

Ice Cube has been making serious press rounds to make sure every corner of the world knows about the biopic. He stopped by ESPN to give his two cents on a string of athlete-rappers that includes: Kobe Bryant, Iman Shumpert, Clint Dempsey, John Cena, Deion Sanders, Serena Williams, Damian Lillard, and Super Bowl Shuffle-era Jim McMahon. it's pretty hilarious to watch.
