Today, Aug. 11, is the birthday of Asher Roth, a former XXL Freshman who now turns 33.

The young MC was raised in Morrisville, Pa. and attended West Chester University until rap aspirations changed his career path. Roth became known to the hip-hop world after linking up with Scooter Braun and dropping his breakout debut single, "I Love College" in 2009.

Riding the success of his laid-back college anthem, Roth released his debut album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle, in 2009 and was subsequently named a member of the 2009 XXL Freshman class. Following his debut, Roth toured with Blink 182, collaborated with Akon, Pete Rock and more, and released his sophomore LP RetroHash in April 2014, which peaked at No. 45 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Roth's been pretty quiet as of late, but he dropped the Rawther EP with Nottz and Travis Barker in 2016. This year Roth's continued dropping off new music, and on his birthday, he unloaded a new EP by the name of Beach Haven.

Happy Birthday, Asher Roth!
