Two of the most powerful names in entertainment are teaming up as producers for a currently untitled HBO miniseries. According to EW, Jay Z and Will Smith are listed as producers--along with Jay Brown, James Lassiter and Aaron Kaplan--for a miniseries about Emmett Till. In 1955, the 14-year-old African-American Till was brutally murdered by Roy Bryant and J.W. Mlam for speaking to 21-year-old white woman Carolyn Bryant. Till was savagely beaten and shot in the head before his body was dumped in the Tallahatchie River. Bryant and Milam were acquitted of Till's kidnapping and murder. Months later, the two men did an interview with Look magazine and admitted to killing the teenager. Because of America's double jeopardy rule, Bryant and Milam could not be retried for the murder of Till in criminal court.

Will Smith and Jay Z were producers on the remake of Annie, which starred Jamie Foxx and Hov and Beyonce's On The Run Tour: Beyonce and Jay Z aired exclusively on HBO last summer. The project appears to be in the very early aughts as EW has reported that no writers are currently attached to the project. Roc Nation, Overbrook and Kapital Entertainment are the production companies tied to the miniseries. There is no timeline for shooting or release date available at this time.
