Wale Joins First Lady Michelle Obama to Help College-Bound Teens

Wale and First Lady Michelle Obama are teaming up to help college-bound teens overcome their future obstacles. "Beating the Odds," a summit designed to help teens make a smooth transition into college, took place at the White House yesterday (July 23). According to Billboard, more than 130 students were in attendance. Both Wale and FLOTUS took part in a panel discussion that was led by E! News anchor Terrence Jenkins.

During his speech, The Album About Nothing rapper told the youth that he didn't take college seriously at first, hoping instead to make it to the NFL. After landing on academic probation, he got it together and said college taught him to be self-made and how to "take the training wheels off" in his life. As for the First Lady, she shared that her goal for the program is "to make education cool again." President Barack Obama was also there for the summit, where he told the students that if they work hard, '"there's no holding you back." At the end of the conference, Wale performed three tracks for the attendees.

In music news, Wale recently tweeted that he's in the studio working on his fifth album. Just recently, the D.C. native was featured on French Montana's new track, "Let Me At Em," along with Problem.
