Gunplay Explains How He Met Rick Ross in Living Legend Doc Part 2

After debuting part one yesterday, today XXL premieres part two of Gunplay's five-part Living Legend documentary series centered on the release of 'Play's debut album for Def Jam, Living Legend, which is officially out and in stores today. Part one showed Gunplay explaining his upbringing and his drug dealing past, while today part two centers around his childhood in Carol City, Florida and meeting his Maybach Music Group boss Rick Ross for the first time at age 14.

"First time I met Rick Ross I was about 14, maybe 15 years old through a mutual friend of ours," Gunplay says. "[Our friend] had a record label he was trying to start up called MIA Productions... I was at Carol City Park one day and I was rapping on the mic—it was his daughter's birthday—I got on the mic and did my one-two thing, and he said, 'Man, I'm looking to sign an artist, I'm starting my label, it's MIA Records.' I started working with him and he was like, 'Man, I found this dude named Teflon Don, he's super nice.' We started making music together and he was big bro to me."

Gunplay went on to tell stories of driving up to New York to give a CD to Kay Slay and how music didn't pay them any money, which was why he decided to stay in the streets and keep hustling. Check out episode two above and stay tuned for the rest of the series in the coming days.
