As the ancient Detroit maxim goes, there's nothing better than giving back. Big Sean is doing just that, with a little help from Adidas. According to Rap-Up, the GOOD Music rapper is making good on a promise to his alma mater, Detroit's Cass Technical High School. The "IDFWU" star had previously told students that if the school's average ACT score improved enough, he would donate the funds necessary to build a state-of-the-art recording studio. Sean took to Twitter to express his excitement, writing, "I can’t believe I used to rap at the lunch tables, slang my CDs in the hallways, and fast forward less than 10 years later I’m opening up my own recording studio." He went on: "This brings me tears of Joy!” Specs of the 784-square-foot Sean Anderson Studio of Infinite Possibilities have not yet been released, but it's probably a lot better than a lunch table.

Though Sean's name has been in the news for troubling reasons of late--Ariana Grande's pointed letter about sexism had some veiled shots, and Naya Rivera's forthcoming memoir might have some more direct ones--it's been a good year for him. Sean scored his first number one album with Dark Sky Paradise, which features his mentor and label boss Kanye West, megastar Drake, legendary Bay Area rapper E-40 and more. Below, watch Sean sit down with local news in Detroit to discuss the studio and his partnership with Adidas. Then, because the Internet is a flat circle, watch a music video from the rapper's high school days. Head over to Tidal to watch Sean's Dark Sky Paradise documentary, which is playing exclusively here
