Turk Files Default Motion Against Cash Money After Label Fails To Respond To Lawsuit

Cash Money Records failed to respond to former employee Turk's February lawsuit in which he claims he is owed in excess of $1 million. Now the original Hot Boy has filed a default against the company in hopes that a judge will rule in his favor because of the no-show, reports AllHipHop.

As previously reported, Turk sued Birdman, Cash Money Records and Money Mack Music in February claiming he didn't receive a single royalty payment on his tenure on the famed Southern rap label. He is seeking $1.3 million in damages. He also wants all rights to his music. “The reason why I’m suing now is because I realized that me being loyal has gotten me nowhere in this business,” Turk told XXL about the situation. “It’s my attorney’s decision that it’s in my best interest to sue after several attempts to settle this matter privately. Now we wait for the next chapter wodie.”

The label was given three weeks to respond to the suit, and asked for an extension in March. And extension was granted until April 11. Cash Money again failed to meet the new date, according to Turk, prompting his council to take further action. Patrick Costello, the rapper's lawyer, filed a default motion with the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Louisiana, April 29. If the house that Baby and Slim built refuses to answer to the claim, a judge could rule in Turk's favor without the matter going to court.
