Police Say Chinx’s Murder May Be Related to Stack Bundles’ Death

Three days after Coke Boys MC Chinx was murdered in a drive-by shooting while stopped at a red light in Queens, few details have trickled out about the search for his killer. Yesterday, however, police said that Chinx's killing may be related to the murder of his friend and collaborator Stack Bundles, who was shot and killed in Far Rockaway, Queens in 2007.

Stack Bundles and Chinx grew up together in Far Rockaway and formed a hip-hop collective called Riot Squad in the early 2000s, pushing mixtapes through DJ Clue and building their local buzz in Queens. After Chinx was locked up in 2003 on a nearly five-year bid for robbery and drug charges, Stack linked up with Max B and joined Jim Jones' ByrdGang crew. But as he began gaining notoriety around the City, Stack was gunned down around 5 a.m. while entering his apartment building in June 2007. The murder was never solved.

Chinx was still locked up when Stacks was killed—he would get out of prison in 2008—but the NYPD has drawn comparisons in the two murders. “They were friends, Stack Bundles and Chinx," NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said, according to the New York Daily News. "They were friends, so we're looking at all hip-hop angles."

The News makes a few connections between the two cases; other than the fact that they both grew up together in Far Rockaway, both Chinx and Stack Bundles were connected to bigger rappers (French Montana and Jim Jones, respectively) and both drove Porsches. Chinx was sitting in his Porsche Panamera on Queens Boulevard early Sunday morning after a performance at Brooklyn's Club Red Wolf when he was shot multiple times.

In addition to the Stack Bundles connection, police are reportedly concerned that due to French Montana's on-again, off-again relationship with Khloe Kardashian, there could be a heightened amount of attention on this case that could increase the possibility of retaliation. ""We certainly are [concerned]," said Boyce. "There's always the issue of retaliation in these things."

"Right now, we don't have anybody not cooperating," Boyce said about the investigation. "There is no fight in the club. We got [that] from numerous sources."

The investigation is ongoing.
