Drake’s Security Guard Gets Six Months in Jail For Assaulting a Woman
Last June, Drake associate Travis Savoury was arrested in Toronto and charged with assaulting a 22-year-old woman during a domestic dispute, as well as procuring for prostitution and human trafficking. Last month, Savoury pled guilty to assault charges and was sentenced to six months in jail, with other charges dismissed. After spending the previous 10 months in custody awaiting the outcome of his case, Savoury is officially free with credit for time served, according to the Toronto Sun.
Savoury has worked on Drake's security team at events in the Toronto area over the years, according to his attorney, and is credited with providing additional vocals on "From Time" off Drizzy's 2013 LP Nothing Was The Same. A month ago, the OVO chief celebrated the outcome of the case—the sentence of which came to light this week—with an Instagram post celebrating Savoury, who also goes by Baka. "Something in the air today...alot of good things happening at once," the Instagram read. "But this one means the MOST!!! Been waiting for 11 months!! Baka finally home!!!!!"
According to the prosecution, the victim in question had not contacted Savoury since the incident and was not subpoenaed because she had moved from the area and the police couldn't locate her. But the woman's statement, which the prosecution read in court, provided details of what happened that night. The unidentified woman, who was reportedly working as an escort, said that she had been in an on-again, off-again relationship with Savoury and that an argument over french fries burning in an oven led Savoury to push her to the floor.
