PartyNextDoor recently sat down with Fader for his first official interview. The OVO Sound member opened up about signing with Drake, his career beginnings and being compared to The Weeknd.

"People throw that [Weeknd comparison] over me because I came at a time where people assumed I was there to fill a void," said PND. "A lot of things that came out of Toronto were darker at the time. But me? I'm all about colors. I'll flip samples where one's a completely dark song and the next one is a complete sexual song. People think my whole thing is a dark thing, but I don't."

The 21-year old also talked about his early influences and eagerness to break into the industry. During the MySpace era, he tried to reach out to producers and labels hoping to "build a collective of likeminded creatives," but no one budged. This motivated the Tdot native to create his own sound.

As the interview continues, Party also talks about his publishing deal with Warner/Chappell and writing unreleased songs for artists, including Justin Bieber. After a while, the young singer realized his songs were getting too personal to sell to others, so he began telling the stories himself. This eventually led him to Drake's OVO Sound label when Boi-1da forwarded his tape over to the label's co-founder, Oliver El-Khatib.

As the interview continues, PartyNextDoor also talks about how he got his name, touring and his upcoming EP. Read the full story here and peep the 17 facts from it here.
