Killer Mike was invited to attend the White House Correspondents' dinner this Saturday (April 25). That is the day after he is schedule to give a lecture at MIT about race relations. He's going to the dinner on behalf of The Huffington Post. Cecily Strong of Saturday Night Live will host. Mike has been very outspoke about race. He has commented about race relations on OKPUSA Today, on CNN multiple times, in an Instagram post, Power 105.1 and in a Billboard op-ed.

In our Winter issue, XXL spoke to Mike about some of the biggest storylines of 2014. One topic was Ferguson: "When we say hip-hop now, we're really saying the record industry, and that's not what I think of in terms of hip-hop. In terms of hip-hop, I think about people who are actively involved in the art form, that are artists, that are writers, rappers, DJs, graffiti artists and break dancers, and business people. I'm talking about hip-hop in terms of the entrepreneurs that represent the culture, not people who tell you to do something for such and such record company. But in particular, a hip-hop artist like Tef Poe who spoke on the international stage about it and Rockwell [Knuckles], both out of St. Louis, I think they've both done an excellent job at keeping honest and real representation out there." In a recent Run The Jewels video for “Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck),” off of the second Run the Jewels LP, the visuals tackles the recent crumbling relationship between police and minorities. Starring The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Shea Whigham and Selma‘s Keith Stanfield, the clip pets the two against one another in exhausting combat. It's stirring to watch.
