Kendrick Lamar continues his victory lap following the release of the critically-acclaimed To Pimp a Butterfly with a second straight week atop the Billboard 200 chart. With another 123,000 copies either sold or streamed, Kendrick's sophomore LP becomes the first album to spend two consecutive weeks at No. 1 since Taylor Swift's 1989 did so last November. Despite being released earlier than anticipated, To Pimp a Butterfly has done incredibly well on the charts and should be certified Gold in early April. The album is also the first R&B/hip-hop album to spend more than one week at No. 1 since Beyonce's self-titled album spent three weeks at No. 1 from late Dec. 2013 to early Jan. 2014.

To Pimp A Butterfly joins Drake's If You're Reading This, It's Too Late, Big Sean's Dark Sky Paradise and the soundtrack to Fox's hit TV show Empire as hip-hop albums to go No. 1 in 2015. With Wale's The Album About Nothing out now, there is a very strong possibility that hip-hop will remain at the top of the charts again next week.

Action Bronson's debut album Mr. Wonderful clocked in at No. 7 with 49,000 units sold, his second project to hit the Top 200 chart after 2013's joint EP with Harry Fraud, Saab Stories, debuted at No. 63 in 2013. Earl Sweatshirt's I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside comes in at No. 12 with 33,020 sold in his first week on the chart.

Elsewhere on the charts, the Empire soundtrack held strong at No. 2 with 61,000 copies sold and became the first television soundtrack to spend its first three weeks in the top two since 2007's High School Musical 2Drake's If You're Reading This, It's Too Late fell from No. 6 to No. 8 with 44,000 sold while Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint and Big Sean's Dark Sky Paradise came in at No. 14 and No. 16, respectively.
