Kendrick Lamar is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Whitney Alford.

The two have kept their relationship pretty hush ever since K-Dot blew up a few years ago. However, while speaking with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, Kendrick opened up about the recent engagement and what it means to stick by his girl's side.

"I’m loyal to the soil," he said. "At the end of the day you want to always have real people around you period. Everybody that’s been around me has been down since day one and I can’t change that. I don’t change for nobody. I always show respect when respect is being given and people that’s been by your side, you supposed to honor that. That's how you stand up."

Kendrick and Whitney have known one another since high school and according to the Compton native, she's one person who keeps him grounded and in check.

During the interview, the To Pimp a Butterfly MC also talked about the album's shaky release via iTunes, J. Cole wanting to sign him to Dreamville and getting the old 2pac interview for the track "Mortal Man."

"I got that when I was in Germany," said Kendrick. "The trip is, Pac was a prophet to me. Everything that he’s talking about, is actually going on today. That right there just sparked the idea. It was a blessing how it came about."

One revealing part of the interview is that Kendrick may have new music with Dr. Dre in the vault. But he couldn't elaborate on it, "If I could speak on it, then I would, but that man is a scientist."
