‘Morning Joe’ Hosts Blame Hip-Hop for SAE Racist Chant

After Sigma Alpha Epsilon brothers at the University of Oklahoma were caught on tape chanting racist slurs this past weekend, Morning Joe hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough suggested that rappers are actually to blame for SAE's actions (see above). Totally ignoring the fact that the SAE members were reciting a chant about how black people will never be invited to pledge with the Fraternity, which has surely been passed down from generations to generations within them (just take a look at this Vine from 2013 of SAE house mother chanting "nigger, nigger, nigger" along to Trinidad James' "All Gold Everything"), Mika and Joe used Waka Flocka as their crux of their argument.

"If you look at every single song, I guess you call these, that [Waka Flocka's] written, it's a bunch of garbage," Brzezinski said. "It's full of n-words, it's full of f-words. It's wrong. And he shouldn't be disgusted with them, he should be disgusted with himself."

Guest Bill Kristol chimed it: "Popular culture becomes a cesspool, a lot corporations profit off of it, and then people are surprised that some drunk 19-year-old kids repeat what they've been hearing."

Waka canceled his scheduled concert with SAE at the University of Oklahoma after seeing the disgusted video. "We can't change history but we damn sure can create our own future," said the BSM Head honcho in the caption of his Instagram post. He spoke about it more on CNN, “I was more hurt and disgusted because I knew those kids. I performed for those kids. They made me feel like a brother,” he told CNN’s Brianna Keilar. “Just to see what a person does behind closed doors… I wasn’t angry. I was just disgusted.”

Willie Geist tried to explain to the panel on Morning Joe that "there is a distinction between white kids on a bus talking about hanging someone and Waka Flocka singing a song," however those words fell on deaf ears. Good job Morning Joe. God help America.
