MF Doom Will Re-Release KMD’s ‘Black Bastards’ Album

Before he donned the mask and became MF Doom, the rapper went by Zev Love X and was part of the Kausing Much Damage (KMD) crew. The group's second album, Black Bastards, was supposed to be released in 1993 (or 1994 depending where you read) but Elektra Records pulled the plug on the project due to the album's controversial art and the Five-Percenter lyrics found in the songs. According to Pitchfork and Rappcats, Doom will reissue Black Bastards on April 18, which also happens to be Record Store Day. The bundle will be released via Metalface Records and include a children's pop-up book, two CDs and a 7" picture disc. The CDs contain the remastered version of the album and bonus material and te 7" contains the song, "What A Nigga Know." A full vinyl edition will also be released sometime in the future.

Doom hasn't released a solo album since 2009's Born Like This but has stayed busy with guest feature spots and collab albums. Recently, the rapper/producer has popped up on songs with Cannibal Ox, Ghostface Killah, Rocye Da 5'9" and Flying Lotus. Doom also teamed up with young spitter Bishop Nehru to release the NehruvianDOOM joint project back in September. There is also a rumored collaboration album with Ghostface called DOOMSTARKS that is supposed to be dropping this year, according to Ghost.
