iLoveMakonnen rise from obscurity to being nominated for a Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Grammy for his Drake-assisted smash hit "Tuesday (Remix)" was one of the best stories of 2014 and the Atlanta rapper/crooner will try to duplicate that success with his debut album. While on the red carpet at the Grammys on Sunday, Makonnen chopped it up with MTV News for a few minutes and gave details on the upcoming, untitled album.

"[The album] should be out in June or July," said Makonnen. "[I'm collaborating with] a lot of different artists. Diplo, Skrillex, Snoop Dogg, Drake, of course, Rihanna...I love Rihanna."

With that roster of guests, Makonnen is tapping into EDM, hip-hop and pop demographics, setting him up for a successful debut that doesn't fit one type of genre. Makonnen has collabed with Snoop Dogg and Drake in the past and was spotted in the studio with Diplo and Skrillex in September. On the red carpet, he clarified that he and Rihanna had not recorded yet but they are working on ideas.

Makonnen's odd blend of singing and rapping has hit a nerve with music fans across the map. Along with "Tuesday," the Atlanta upstart has dropped songs like "Super Clean," a remix to "Down 4 So Long" featuring Ezra Koenig and Despost and the Mike WiLL Made It produced "Swerve".
