Diddy Won’t Let His Son Appear On Fox’s ‘Empire’
Diddy is unhappy with his son's contract and banned him from appearing on Fox's Empire. The show has been a hit since it premiered last month. The musical drama is a new step for hip-hop. However, the Bad Boy CEO has pulled Quincy from the cast after getting into a fight with 20th Century Fox TV over music rights, according to Page Six. Diddy was not happy with Fox's request for Quincy to sign over a portion of his music rights in relation to the show as a part of his deal.
“Diddy kicked up a huge stink and called all the top brass at 20th Century Fox TV to get them to change their rules over music rights,” said a source to the insider gossip publication. “He said there was no way his son was signing over his intellectual property. So he banned him from the show.”
This kind of contract is not foreign in musical dramas. Other actors on Empire are subject to similar contracts, as well as on shows such as Glee and American Idol but Diddy still wasn't having it.
This doesn't end the relationship with Quincy and the show. The 25-year old actor/singer may still have a shot at the second season on Empire. But, Diddy will have to let up on the intellectual property issue if that's ever to happen. In the meantime, Quincy just released the video to his new single, "Friends First." Diddy and his son shared their excitement about the track via Instagram (below).
Empire already boasts Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard as it's leads, and we've seen appearances from Naomi Campbell and Cuba Gooding Jr. Catch Empire every Wednesday at 9pm.
