Azealia Banks Gets The Cover Of Playboy

Azealia Banks has been in the news for a handful of reasons recently, all of them contentious. The same concoction of conviction and recklessness that might win a male rapper adoring fans has cast her as a stodgy villain, someone relegated to @-mentions and TMZ footnotes. But now, it has been announced that Banks will have something none of her digital sparring mates can boast of: her very own Playboy cover.

The magazine's editorial staff says that Banks posed in a "frisky pictorial that's sure to break the Internet," adding that the rapper also participated in a candid interview. The April issue hits newsstands in late March. Banks' name has mostly made the rounds of late for her spats with rappers like Iggy Azalea and Action Bronson over what Banks has deemed cultural appropriation on each of their parts.

Late last year, Banks finally secured a release for Broke With Expensive Taste, her long-awaited debut album. After spending years in purgatory while her Universal deal bound her to dusty shelves and Twitter home screens, it was finally released, to considerable critical acclaim. Along with "212," already an established hit, Broke sported stunning cuts like "Chasing Time."
