The Run The Jewels movement continues to grow at a rapid rate. Breaking into the mainstream with their critically acclaimed album, Run The Jewels 2, Killer Mike and El-P have been featured on ESPN broadcasts, garnered attention from Hollywood stars, added to the bill of huge festivals, and asked to open for Jack White. The duo's fist-and-gun logo has become iconic worldwide thanks to the "Tag The Jewels" initiative and now Marvel Comics is hopping on the bandwagon and paying tribute by using Run The Jewels-inspired art for upcoming issues of Deadpool and Howard The Duck.

Considering that both Mike and El-P grew up as comic book junkies, this is quite possibly the coolest and most sentimental thing that has happened to the crew since Run The Jewels 2 dropped. "I grew up reading comics with my dad--my stepdad, but I don't use that word--he let me just have his comic collection. So this is a very big deal for me, man," Killer Mike told Rolling Stone. "I look forward to when this shit drops, taking him up and driving him to the comics store in North Dekalb, just to let him get out and not even tell him that it's going down. I know he's gonna be so proud he could fuckin' cry, bruh."

The idea for the covers started at the top when Marvel Comics editor-in-chief and hip-hop fan Axel Alonso saw the worldwide impact "Tag The Jewels" had and brought the idea to comic artists Mahmud Asrar, who does the art for Howard The Duck, and Skottie Young, who handles the same duty for Deadpool. "We've done homages to album covers in the past, of iconic rock bands and hip-hop bands, but this is something a little different," said Alonso. "This is very much picking up on something that's of the moment, and a logo that I think says a lot to a lot of different people."

The covers will appear on Issue 45 of Deadpool and Issue Two of Howard The Duck.
