Back in 1991, DJ Premier step foot into the new D&D Studios to record Gang Starr's third album, Daily Operation. Since then, D&D has been like a home to Preemo and an outlet for artists across all genre's to link their music with his beats. Unfortunately, after nearly 25 years of operation, the infamous D&D Studios has closed.

D&D's closing is a disappointment to the hip-hop community. However, Preem has already completed the relocation of HeadQcourterz to KAS Music and Sound at Kaufman Astoria Studios. The legendary producer is gearing up to drop his debut album, Last Session @320, later this year.

In 2003, Preemo bought the studio from its founders and renamed it to HeadQcourterz, in honor of his late friend Kenneth "HeadQcourterz" Walker. In the 12 years since, he's put his stamp on nearly everyone's music, including Gang Starr, Rakim, KRS-One, Biggie, Nas, Jay Z, Common and many, many more. His work also includes his recently released collaborative project, PRhyme, with Royce Da 5’9."
