On this day, Dec. 29, in hip-hop history…

2013: KayO Redd, Waka Flocka Flame’s younger brother, died in Atlanta from an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound. He was found dead in his home in Henry Country, Ga.

Redd was a rising MC, following in the footsteps of Waka. In 2012, he dropped YNS 2: Full Time Grind and secured a radio spot on Be100 radio. The following year, on Dec. 29, just hours before his alleged suicide, Kayo took to Twitter to promote his new mixtape Redd Kisses.

Redd, born Coades Scott, was the second sibling that the BSM head honcho has lost. He had another brother die in a car accident in 2000.

The "No Hands" rapper spoke about the death of KayO, saying he thinks stress was one of the main causes for Kayo’s passing. “That boy had a lot of stress on him,” he stated shortly after KayO's passing. “It’s a lot of things that go on behind doors that people don’t know about. It’s a lot of stress that come with this game. The strong survive. The family is good, though. Life goes on. That’s the motto for me, life goes on. If my eyes ain’t closed and I’m not breathing, I’m not hurting.”

R.I.P. KayO Redd.
